Were students of Lester Prairie Public School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Reading testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

Lester Prairie Public School District ranked third in the McLeod County for test participation, with 273 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Lester Prairie Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 12.3% over the previous year.

Lester Prairie Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 46% in 2021-22 school year.

Fifth grade students stood out with 14% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, third grade students had the most room for improvement, with 47% not meeting the expected standards.

Lester Prairie Public School District encompasses schools within McLeod County and has a main office in Lester Prairie.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
