St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee is expanding and adding an emergency department as well as a cancer center.
The funding for this expansion is being done by the hospital's investors and using the city as a conduit so that municipal bonds will be exempted from tax, a move covered under the protection of the state statute.
“St. Francis is committed to ensuring emergency department access to the growing community and offering the safest environment for those with emergency mental health needs," St. Francis’ President Amy Jerdee said. "In addition, the expansion and renovation of the Cancer Center will improve both the access and experience for patients in need of cancer treatment.”
She said the center has carefully tailored these projects to meet their objectives while balancing the needs of the growing population with their commitment to financial responsibility.
