Small businesses in Dakota County have felt the burn of the COVID-19 crisis and county leaders plan to help business owners stay afloat.
More financial assistance for bewildered businesses is on the way as Dakota County officials announce relief packages for everything from payroll assistance to utility payouts.
Dakota County officials recently launched a program that will provide $10 million in much-needed federal CARES Act funds to help small businesses that are grappling to stay afloat due to the economic downfall caused by the coronavirus.
Thanks to the Small Business Relief Grant Program, Dakota County startups can get up to $10,000 to meet payroll demands, overdue rent, outstanding mortgage payments, unpaid utility bills and operational expenses that have been hard to meet since March 1.
Mike Slavik, Dakota County Board chair, said the new program is tailored to assist small businesses that have seen the most negative impact.
“Through this program, we hope to stabilize businesses hit hardest during temporary closures and business changes as a result of COVID-19,” Slavik told Finance & Commerce.
