Were students of Waconia Public School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Math testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

Waconia Public School District ranked first in the Carver County for test participation, with 2,023 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Waconia Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 6.4% over the previous year.

Waconia Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 62% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 35% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, 11th-grade students had the most room for improvement, with 43% not meeting the expected standards.

Waconia Public School District encompasses schools within Carver County and has a main office in Waconia.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
