Minnesota State Representative Bobbie Harder provided an update on recent activities and opportunities within her district. Over the summer, Harder participated in legislative conferences, including a visit to the Midwestern Legislative Conference in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. During this trip, she toured a regional potash mine and observed large-scale agricultural infrastructure and cross-border innovation. She noted that seeing mining operations offered new perspectives on how resource development benefits rural economies.

Harder also commented on a recent legal development regarding state legislation. "On Monday, a Ramsey County District Court struck down the binary trigger provision from a 1,400-page omnibus bill, citing Minnesota’s constitutional single-subject requirement. While the decision applies only to that provision, the judge’s broader comments highlight a troubling trend of cramming unrelated policies into massive bills—a shortcut that undermines transparency and public input. I’ve consistently called for clear, single-topic bills that allow open debate and genuine accountability."

This week, Harder volunteered at the Norwood Young America weekly food distribution program. In 2024, this initiative distributed almost 30,000 meals to over 330 families in need within the community. The program aims not only to provide food but also to help families manage their budgets better and improve their nutrition. The effort is supported by organizations such as Second Harvest Heartland, Carver County, and Central Public Schools.

Additionally, Harder announced an internship opportunity for college students interested in public service. "To all college students interested in public service and legislative work - the Minnesota House of Representatives is now accepting applications for the 2026 Undergraduate Internship Program. Interns gain hands-on experience researching policy, attending floor sessions, drafting materials, and learning from legislators and staff. The program runs during the legislative session and even offers a small weekly stipend. Applications opened on July 28, 2025, and the deadline is November 7th, 2025. This is a fantastic chance to get involved in the process from the inside!" More information about this opportunity can be found at Minnesota House of Representatives.

Harder concluded her update by encouraging constituents to reach out with questions or suggestions: "Thank you for reading this update. The Legislature may be between sessions, but I’m continuing my work, meeting with constituents, pushing for smart policy, and keeping rural voices at the table."
