Minnesota State Senator Julia Coleman shared a series of posts on her social media account in mid-July 2025, touching on personal experiences with medical care, legislative updates, and mental health initiatives.
On July 16, Coleman publicly thanked another user for investigating concerns related to childbirth procedures. She recounted her own experience in 2019, stating, "In 2019 I had a failed epidural and a C-section where my arms were strapped down against my consent. I was in pain and shock and doctors did not believe that I could feel the entire procedure. The PTSD that followed ruined" (posted July 16, 2025).
Later that day, she highlighted her involvement in political discourse at the Minnesota Capitol. In her post from July 16, Coleman wrote: "Had a great conversation with Sen. Cwodzinski and Mary Lahammer about the latest news at the Capitol. Watch the full interview this Friday at 7 PM on TPT’s Almanac."
On July 17, Coleman addressed mental health and campus safety following new state legislation. She stated: "Yesterday the Governor signed a bill to fund permanent suicide‑prevention barriers on the Washington Avenue Bridge at the University of Minnesota. I graduated from the U of M and I’ve walked that bridge many times. It’s heartbreaking that 3-5 lives are lost there every year." (posted July 17, 2025).
Coleman is a member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 47 since January 2021. The Washington Avenue Bridge has been identified as a site with multiple suicides annually among University of Minnesota students; recent legislative action aims to address this issue by installing preventive infrastructure.
