With less than two weeks remaining before the May 19 constitutional deadline, Minnesota lawmakers are continuing efforts to complete the 2024–2025 Legislative Session. State Rep. Bobbie Harder (R-Carver) reported that significant work remains, including passing final bills and delivering a balanced budget for the state.
Harder described recent activity at the Capitol, highlighting an event hosted by the Minnesota Milk Producers Association, which provided ice cream to legislators and staff. She noted that this tradition underscores agriculture’s role in Minnesota’s economy.
Harder also attended a rally supporting nonpublic schools. “The turnout was strong, and the message was clear: Minnesota families want real school choice, and they won’t stay quiet while the Governor attempts to slash support for nonpublic students. I’ve received many emails and calls from people across our district, and I want you to know that I’ll continue standing up for educational options that work for all families,” Harder said.
Earlier in the week, Harder voted against the Human Services budget bill. She cited concerns about mandates shifting costs onto counties and local governments without adequate state funding. “That’s simply not sustainable for our rural communities. I'll be the first one to say we need to get the state budget under control and while this bill is still an improvement from what we've seen in years past, this is not how we get there. I will continue to push for a responsible budget that doesn't overburden our counties and local governments,” she stated.
Harder announced her selection to serve on the Agriculture Conference Committee, which began its work comparing House and Senate versions of the agriculture budget bill. She emphasized her commitment to ensuring that legislation supports farmers and addresses agricultural needs in Minnesota.
“It’s an honor to work for you at the Capitol. Whether we’re in session or not, I remain committed to listening to your concerns, fighting for policies that support rural Minnesota, and making sure your voices are heard. Please don’t hesitate to contact my office anytime to share your thoughts, concerns, or ideas,” Harder said.
